As September rolls around, my skin definitely starts to notice the change in the seasons. Long gone are the days where Vitamin C is constantly at my disposal! Last year I found the perfect transitional skin care routine and now I think I have perfected it I’ve decided to share it with you all.
A bit about my skin:
I have combination type skin, my forehead, under-eyes and chin can get quite dry but my nose / eyelids / temple area is notably oily. I’ve suffered with acne from the age of 11, the most affected areas are my cheeks and temples; however I get period spots around my eyebrows and lips.

What I do:
The first thing I do is wash my face using the Dark Angels Cleanser. All you need to do with this is break off a piece the size of a 1p coin, add a tiny amount of water and lather it up into a paste. This is perfect for people who like to feel a scrub on their skin but can’t afford to bring up any unnecessary oils. This product contains cleansing and softening Rhassoul Mud that is sourced in Dorset, black sugar to all you to scrub away dead skin cells, and balancing mind and skin oil- Rosewood. I use this once a day, usually at night when I’ve removed my make up.
*I do the next steps twice a day, once in the morning, then again at night after I’ve washed my face*
Once my face is dry I spray 3 pumps of the Tea Tree Water on my face. Tea Tree is commonly used to fight acne with its antibacterial, anti-fungal and antimicrobial properties. This toner also has grapefruit juice which is great for cleansing and toning the skin as well as Juniperberry Water which balances the skin.
After this has sunk into my skin for a couple of minutes I apply Grease Lightening to my problem areas (I am not joking, this time last year I had cystic acne, and within 3 weeks of using this it had almost totally cleared up and has never been the same again!) . Tea Tree and Witch Hazel are both incorporated into this product and supply a natural power to battle spots whilst grape juices help to cleanse and soften the skin. This product also contains Aloe Vera which soothes any burning areas.
My holy grail moisturiser has to be Vanishing Cream! I’ll admit this is definitely on the pricier side for a moisturiser but works absolute wonders for preventing spots and keeping the skin smooth. As this is cocoa butter free it doesn't leave a layer on the skin and allows it to penetrate fully- leaving you with hydrated skin! The Rose Water this product contains allows the skin to feel soothed and cool.
Finally I apply the Enchanted Eye Cream under my eyes. This works wonders for keeping my eyes looking plump and hydrated. This product contains Lavender Honey Water that soothes and hydrates, and Jojoba Oil that moisturises! Over the past few months I’ve noticed my eyes are less irritated by make up and my dark circles look a lot less prominent.
Twice a week I like to use a face mask, my favourites at the moment are 1000 Millihelens which is the best if you’ve had a breakout - this is often the one I use when I’ve had my period breakout. It contains Sicilian Lemon oil which cleanses the skin and Witch Hazel extract. My other all time favourite is Cup O’ Coffee. Not only does this smell amazing but it allows you to scrub at the skin; I usually use this once a breakout has cleared up to get rid of any impurities and balance out my skin tone.
This routine has honestly changed the way I view skin care, previously I only used chemical based products and didn’t think natural remedies could work- but from having terrible acne all over my face to the odd spot in a very short amount of time, I couldn’t recommend swapping your usual products for a natural alternative.
