For about 2 years now I’ve suffered terribly with nightmares, and had anxiety for around 5 years. They’ve both really affected my sleep pattern, no matter what nothing has helped me snooze and it was really starting to get me down. I’m sceptical to try sleep products as I find they don’t always work, the only one that I’ve found to work in some way is ‘Sleepy’ from Lush.
I was in Boots the other day and saw the brand ‘Feather and Down’; when I went to read about this brand all I could really find was what the website said so I’m assuming this is fairly new. However, the website says that it’s an English company that are intended for a good night’s sleep. They are “dedicated to encouraging a restful night’s sleep through regime, routine and [their] specially blended sleep fragrance containing lavender & chamomile essential oils which are known to promote a better night’s sleep.” That basically had me sold, sceptical but still seemed worth a try.
There are quite a few products which all have the same scent and are in this gorgeous blue, white and gold packaging which looks so simplistic but elegant.
In their home fragrance section, they have a ‘Calming Candle’ and ‘Relaxing Reed Diffuser’ for £18 each, which I will admit is much more on the pricey side but if you want to carry on running with the theme I suppose it’s worth the splash. In this section, they also have the pillow spray which I got to try out! In their Bath & Body section I was shocked by how many things there were. There’s a Sleep Balm, Melting Shower Cream and Sleep Butter that I got to try out. There’s also Bath Essence, Sleep Salts and a Soothing Body Oil which all look and smell incredible (from when I smelt them in store, the internet doesn’t have smell vision yet apparently).
The range of bath, body, gifting and homeware products are all around £5-£20. As mentioned, after smelling the products I thought I’d give them ago for the scent more so than their actual calming ability. However, I have ridiculously sensitive skin and didn’t want to buy full size products if they were going to irritate my skin and possibly not work, so I opted for the Sleep Essentials Kit. This is £12 and contains travel size versions of the Melting Shower Cream (which retails at £6 for a full-size bottle), All Purpose Sleep Balm (which retails at £7 for a full-size tub), Sleep Butter (which retails at £8 for a full tub) and the Pillow Spray (that retails for £7 for a full bottle).
That night I did my normal evening routine and used each of the products. The first thing I used was the Melting Shower Cream, which lathered so nicely all over my body and did literally melt. It left my skin feeling so smooth which was a surprise as products containing lavender can often dry my skin out but this was more moisturising than I expected (which it does claim to do). It left a really nice subtle scent on the skin too, which in my opinion is much better than something overpowering, especially if you’re trying to relax.
To moisturise I lathered the Sleep Butter all over my body and massaged it in. One thing I was concerned about was how long this would take to dry and if it would be sticky, but if properly massaged in it dries instantly and has a very similar finish to the Vaseline moisturisers, leaving the skin conditioned. Much like the shower cream, it’s not too overpowering in scent but the aroma doesn’t just vanish unlike with many moisturisers.
Next, I applied the Sleep Balm to my inner wrists, neck and temples (pulse points) and definitely had doubts about this. It was tough to get out of the pot but once melted slightly it rubbed into the skin so smoothly and has a much bolder smell than the other two products I used, but I wouldn’t say it was at all overpowering. This also contains vitamin E which helps to maintain healthy skin.
The final product in this pack was the pillow spray – which I was really excited to use! I’ve used a couple of these from different brands but never really found one that works. I sprayed this all over my pillows and duvet and literally couldn’t get enough of the scent! This smells unbelievable and is more of a mist so doesn’t soak your pillows or get too much scent-wise.
Overall, I am in love with this brand and the products I’ve used so far. It has honestly helped to calm me down and settle my mind at night! I can’t wait to go out and buy the full-size products and review the one’s I haven’t tried.
